Dublin Meanderings

Spent a day with numb hands walking around the city - after Ashwin and Guo Ming came over for the weekend and I was completely unable to show them around (was the other way round, in fact. They even brought me to my bus stop) I decided "it's time to get a bit more city savvy, woman".

Wandering around brought me into
1. music stores
where I picked up a book explaining the musical influences behind every Beatles' song. The stories were much more romantic in my head, and so much more banal in real life. Some of the songs that have stuck so close to my heart like "all you need is love" was politically motivated (a slogan to unite the world during the Vietnam War period) and done for a commercial, and "let it be" was Paul singing about the band's mounting tension from the business side of things

2. book shops
where I found classics for 2.99 euro (SO CHEAP) but i can't be arsed to read any of them. Found The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales by Oliver Sacks. One of those books that have forever made an impression on me. SUCH a good read. I cried like a bitch at so many of the short stories haha

3. charity shops
love how random they are, but my sinus went mad in several of them.

4. shoe shops
where I was sorely disappointed. I can't believe Dubliners have such poor choice of shoes?!?! Am not going to survive here for long ;_;

5. hunting for the perfect hot chocolate
Yet to be sourced. . .

So anyway I stumbled upon the Dublin castle by accident but it was so unimpressive...
Ugh hate doing touristy stuff, but it must be done...
